2022 Cadillac Escalade review

1. Great towing capacity

If you want to tow toys and haul the family, the Cadillac Escalade is the only vehicle you need. With a choice of powerful gas or diesel engine options under the hood, the 2022 Escalade is an SUV that performs like a pickup. Select 2WD and the optional towing package for a maximum estimated towing capacity of 8,200 lbs when properly equipped.

That's equivalent to a 28-foot travel trailer, so you can live out your digital nomad dreams. If 4WD is a requirement, the maximum estimated towing capacity is a very respectable 8,000 lbs when properly equipped.

2. Plenty of cargo space

Standing six and a half feet tall, you know the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will meet your cargo needs. Open the standard power liftgate to see the 25.5 cu-ft of space behind the third-row seating—about the same as an average French-door refrigerator. That third-row seating is comfortable too, thanks to the low independent rear suspension that takes up less room and soaks up bumps. The result is 109.1 cu-ft of space with the rear seats down. Look for the long wheelbase ESV option for 42.9 cu-ft of space behind the third row and 126.6 cu-ft with the rear seats down.

3. Expressive design

Bold lines and subtle accents define the imposing exterior of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade. The huge 22-inch alloy wheels are standard, with several styles available. The standard chrome bar or optional black polished grille declares the vehicle's power. Look closely and you'll see the Cadillac script inside the headlights. Across the back, massive "light blade" brake lights span the rear vertically. The combined result is modern and sophisticated, equally at home at your favorite fishing hole or downtown restaurant.

4. Full-size luxury

Slide behind the wheel of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade for a full-size luxury SUV experience. You'll find convincing faux leather on the base Luxury trim; higher trims have real leather covering every surface, with real wood and aluminum accents. Heated and ventilated seats are standard, as is Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ integration, and the optional center console refrigerator is a nice touch. Rear passengers will thank you for the optional 12.6-inch HD touchscreens that connect to their devices for all-day gaming.

5. Maximum tech

The inside of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade has more tech than you'll know what to do with at first glance. Yes, that is a gigantic 36-inch OLED display spanning most of the dash, blending driver information and center infotainment displays. The standard audio system rocks 19 speakers, but the optional AKG Acoustics^® premium system has 36 speakers for a stadium concert feel. Plus, lane departure warning and lane-keep assist are standard features on every 2022 Escalade.
