The 2024 Honda Civic is a standout sedan
The 2024 Honda Civic received no changes or updates, but the recently redesigned sedan remains one of our favorites. It got a major redesign in 2022 and was named Edmunds Top Rated Sedan thanks to its sharp handling and better-than-average fuel economy and storage space.
That formula powers the 2024 Civic, which gets up to an EPA-estimated 36 mpg combined. Fuel economy figures are based on EPA estimates for when vehicle sold as new. Fuel economy may vary for reasons like driving conditions and vehicle history. Unless specified, figures are for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. See fueleconomy.gov. Its 14.4 cubic feet of trunk space is more than the Toyota Corolla (13.1 cubic feet) and even competes with the Toyota Camry (15.1 cubic feet).
While handling is sharp and the steering feels responsive, you'll notice high levels of road noise when you're on the highway. The seats can also be uncomfortable over a long drive. Still, the 2024 Civic has a lot going for it, making it one of our favorite compact sedans in both sedan and hatchback form.

What We Like
Fuel economy: The EPA estimated the Civic EX can get an impressive 36 mpg in combined driving. The top-trim Civic Touring adds a turbocharged engine and its fuel economy dips to 34 mpg combined. Both are impressive numbers when compared to other compact sedans.
Storage: The 2024 Honda Civic sedan can hold up to 14.8 cubic feet worth of stuff in its trunk—better than most of its rivals. Picking a hatchback version of the Civic nearly doubles its capacity, serving up 24.5 cubic feet of storage.
Performance: The Civic is a lot of fun to drive thanks to responsive handling that makes sharp turns a breeze. It's not the quickest car from a full stop, but once it gets going you'll find passing on highways straightforward.
What Needs Improvement
Comfort: A lot of road noise finds its way into the Civic, especially when you're on the highway. Honda doesn't offer a Civic with adjustable lower back support, which can make long drives in the compact sedan uncomfortable.
