Three-row SUV fit for family and fun
The boxy Honda Pilot seats eight, perfect for hauling around family, friends, and more than half a soccer team. You’ll find it easy to park and maneuver in parking garages and other tight spaces. In fact, behind the wheel, it feels like a smaller sedan. The 3.5L V6 engine found on all trim levels delivers power smoothly, with enough zip to merge into freeway traffic. When properly equipped, the V6 front-wheel-drive Pilot can tow an estimated 2,000 pounds, while the all-wheel-drive version is rated for an estimated 4,500 pounds. You could tow a travel trailer or off-road toys for a day of adventure. Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.

5 reasons to buy the 2014 Honda Pilot
1. Space for eight
While the Pilot is midsize, you’ll find an eight-passenger capacity typically found in full-size SUVs. Even if you’re stuck in the third row, the seats are comfortable for adults with 38.5 inches of legroom. The 60/40-split 2nd-row seats slide and recline. The space behind the rear seats is similar to the trunk in a full-size sedan. When the second- and third-row seats are folded, the Pilot has room for 87 cu-ft of cargo.
2. Ride in style
The Pilot soaks up bumpy roads and parking lot curbs for a comfy ride. In the interior, you’ll find controls that are logically laid out and easy to use. Stepping up to the EX-L trim level adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power passenger seat, and a sunroof. The Touring trim adds driver seat memory functions and a 10-speaker premium sound system,
3. Surefooted AWD
All-wheel drive-equipped Pilots are ready to tackle snow and other slippery surfaces. The available Variable Torque Management (VTM-4) system takes over automatically when it senses wheels slipping, routing power to the front or rear wheels. The lock mode allows you to send maximum power to the rear wheels when you’re stuck.
4. Gas sipper
All 2014 Honda Pilots have the same engine, the 3.5L V6 that produces 250 hp. It’s less powerful than a V8 found in full-size SUVs, which means it’s a fuel-efficient choice. All trims report an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined fuel economy.
You’ll be able to bypass gas stations while carrying a full load.5. High standards
Each trim level has a list of standard features, with few options to add. The base LX starts with an eight-inch multi-information display with a rearview camera and a seven-speaker audio system with Bluetooth® connectivity. You can upgrade to the EX, which adds a 10-way-power driver’s seat and fog lights. Extras on the EX-L include leather seating, heated front seats, and a moonroof. The top-of-the-line Touring adds memory settings for the front seats and a premium sound system. Available options include voice-activated navigation with traffic data and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
