Chevrolet simplifies the 2022 Blazer range, for the better
Chevrolet simplified the 2022 Blazer lineup to better reflect what people are buying. The standard engine is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and it provides solid performance. If you want more, you can always opt for the 3.6-liter V6. All models come with front-wheel drive and use an automatic transmission, but all-wheel drive is an option—and for 2022 the Blazer offers a towing package. The Blazer isn't a down and dirty off-roader, even with all-wheel drive. It's more suited to the road, where it nicely combines sharp handling and comfort, and among midsize crossover SUVs it's one of the best to drive.
Throw in bold looks inside and out, and it could well be a winning package. But if you're looking for a five-passenger SUV with space for all (and their luggage), you'll be better served by some of the Blazer's rivals. A crisp, easy-to-use touchscreen operates the infotainment, and all models come with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity. For model year 2022, the 2LT is the entry-level trim, followed by 3LT, RS, and Premier. The 2LT is still our favorite, providing everything you need, want, and more, with a good engine and at a sensible price point. The Blazer is well worth consideration, though it becomes less attractive than its rivals as you climb the trim levels, where it’s up against some tougher, better competition.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer
1. Eye-catching styling
One look at the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer and you know this isn't any ordinary midsize crossover SUV. The Blazer is inspired by Chevrolet's Camaro and features similarly sharp and aggressive lines and a distinctive front grille, with that signature bowtie emblem proudly displayed. Chiseled lines continue down the sides and doors and around the front headlights. The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer stands out from the pack and turns heads on the street.
2. A pair of powerful engines
The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is a midsize SUV designed more for on-road driving rather than off-road, and the pair of engines provide plenty of power to eat up the miles on the highway. The 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which comes as standard on all models except the RS, is good for 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Optional on all trims and standard on the RS trim is a 3.6L V6 engine taking power output up to 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
3. More features available as standard
On previous models, the Chevrolet Blazer had two base trim levels—L and 1LT. For 2022, the 2LT trim is now the new base trim level, meaning you get an impressive set of features available as standard. These include 18-inch alloy wheels, four USB ports, an eight-inch touchscreen, and cruise control—plus Chevy's suite of driver convenience technologies, including forward collision warning and lane keeping assist.
4. Wealth of optional features
With four trim levels and three feature packages available, it's easy to find a Blazer to suit your needs. On the 3LT trim, you get leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power liftgate, and an optional Sound and Technology package, including an enhanced eight-speaker sound system and surround-view camera system for easy parking. The RS and Premier trims are similarly equipped, with trim-exclusive exterior details, 20-inch wheels, and a heated steering wheel. Both can be found with the Enhanced Convenience package—which includes ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats—and the Driver Confidence II package, including adaptive cruise control and wireless device charging.
5. A fun driving experience
The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is a midsize SUV that looks and drives like a smaller, sportier hatchback. Alongside the powerful engines, all trims have available all-wheel drive and come with a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard to make acceleration even more smooth and satisfying. A relatively low ride height and minimal body roll make handling crisp and effective. If you need to upgrade to a bigger car but still want to retain some excitement and driving pleasure, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is a great choice.
