Don't be deceived by the 2019 Chevy Colorado's midsize status—this pickup isn't lacking guts. Right out of the gate, the 2.5L four-cylinder, which comes standard on Base, WT, LT, and Z71 trims, pushes out 200 horsepower and 191 lb.-ft. of torque. With an estimated payload capacity of 1,440 lbs. and an estimated 3,500-lb. max tow rating (2019 models), this rugged little road-warrior makes a great delivery truck or tool hauler with the 2.5L engine when properly equipped.

Stepping up to the 3.6L V6 (standard on ZR2, optional on Base, WT, LT, and Z71 trims) will get you more muscle with 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque, along with an estimated 7,000-lb. maximum towing capacity and an estimated 1,574-lb. payload capacity when properly equipped. That's full-size capability but in a more agile package.

2. Sips fuel and packs torque

Looking for a well-rounded pickup with rugged diesel performance? The 2019 Colorado offers an available Duramax 2.8L turbo-diesel four-cylinder that generates 181 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. With this durable cast iron engine anchoring the truck, the 2019 Colorado can tow an estimated 7,700 lbs. when properly equipped.

It matches this power with an EPA-estimated 30 mpg highway (2WD models).

3. Roomy inside and out

With room for your crew and job site materials, this Colorado truck packs a serious punch when it comes to space. 2019 WT, LT, and Z71 trims with the crew cab can accommodate five passengers with 35.8 inches of rear-seat legroom, plus all seats feature special contouring for maximum support to limit fatigue when you're out on the job. 2019 crew cab models also offer the choice of a 5' 2" or a 6' 2" bed to store your tools and materials.

The long bed can hold a maximum of 49.9 cubic feet of cargo or up to eight-foot lengths of lumber by opening the tailgate, which is very good versatility for a midsize pickup.

The 2019 Colorado includes Chevy's robust Infotainment 3 system, which is easy to use and very feature-rich. Base and WT trims come standard with a seven-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, while LT and higher trims get a larger eight-inch touchscreen display and built-in 4G LTE WiFi.

All models also include a rearview camera to help with hitching up a trailer or reversing onto a loading dock. Forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and rear park assist are optional on the LT trim as a special package. You can also upgrade the base six-speaker audio system with a Bose^® premium seven-speaker sound system on LT and higher trims.
