2019 Lincoln MKZ offers value-conscious luxury
The 2019 Lincoln MKZ attempts to rival foreign competition for the entry-level luxury sedan shopper with a vehicle that comes with many standard features at a lower price. The MKZ received expanded standard features for 2019, making it a better value buy for those looking to get a little more for their money.
While the standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine is powerful enough for most drivers, the MKZ can feel sluggish when passing on highways. A seriously capable V6 is available on the highest trim level, Reserve II. A hybrid model is available, and while it lacks pizzazz, it complements the quiet, gentle driving experience some may desire in a luxury vehicle.
Technology is a strong suit for the MKZ, and both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard. The infotainment system, powered by Ford's SYNC® 3 software, is also a strong point. Unfortunately, the interior lets the MKZ down a bit. It's cramped, especially in the back row, and the interior materials aren't of the same high quality that you'd find in a Mercedes-Benz or BMW.

What We Like
Technology: The revised SYNC® 3 system is easy to use thanks to a combination of physical buttons, knobs and the MKZ's eight-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard features, and there are plenty of USB ports to plug in your device.
Comfort: The MKZ is smooth on the highway and little engine noise creeps into the cabin, even when accelerating. The driver's seat is comfortable enough to sit in for a long drive, and the head and legroom are generous in the front row.
Utility: Fold-down rear seats and a large trunk give the MKZ plenty of space for your larger items. Small-item storage, for things like water bottles, is good, but not great. Cupholders are widely available and hold standard cup and bottle sizes.
What Needs Improvement
Interior: The MKZ interior isn't quite as refined as its competition and despite the sedan's large size, it can be a bit cramped once you're inside the car. That's especially true for passengers in the back row, whose head and legroom are compromised, especially on models with the panoramic sunroof.
