A comfy crossover that nears luxury car heights
The 2017 Mazda CX-9 does a great job of balancing luxury, sportiness, and style and wrapping up into one seven-seat SUV. It boasts a stunning look inside and out and delivers an outstanding ride quality on almost any roadway. However, it also remains composed and downright fun to drive on a curvy backroad without relying on complex adaptive suspension setups. On top of all this, you can please your luxury-loving side with the fully loaded Signature trim level and approach luxury car status without the luxury car costs.

5 reasons to buy the 2017 Mazda CX-9
1. Stunning design
The 2017 CX-9 is not your typical midsize SUV with vanilla styling. This SUV is sure to please your eyes with a stunning design that includes a long and flat hood, a pointed nose, a sporty grille, and plenty of soft and curvy body lines. Inside, the 2017 CX-9’s cabin continues its stylish ways. It has an elegant design that includes a thin dashboard with an infotainment screen placed atop it, angular climate-control vents, sharp-looking metallic accents, and much more. No matter your design preferences, the 2017 Mazda CX-9’s looks inside and out are sure to please.
2. Ample towing power
The 2017 Mazda CX-9 may not sound like much of a powerhouse when you hear it comes standard with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine instead of a big V6 powerplant. However, with its advanced turbocharging technology, this engine pumps out plenty of low-end torque just off idle. This makes it surprisingly capable of towing. It checks in with an estimated 3,500-pound towing capacity when properly equipped.
3. Threatens entry-level luxury SUVs
Are you craving a luxury SUV but need something more practical? Mazda may not be a luxury brand, but the CX-9 may make you think otherwise in its range-topping Signature model. The 2017 CX-9 Signature has everything you need to start checking off many of your luxury boxes. Its highlights include rosewood and aluminum trim and deep red Nappa leather upholstery.
4. Lots of space for five (seven in a pinch)
The 2017 Mazda CX-9 has seating for up to seven passengers, so even big families can squeeze in for a ride. However, it’s best suited as a five-person SUV primarily, as its best seats are in the front and in the second rows. The front seats will treat you to 41 inches of legroom, while the second row has an adult- and kid-friendly 39.4 inches. The third row is great when you need to haul a sixth or seventh passenger in a pinch, but its 29.7 inches of legroom make it best suited for small kids.
5. A great drive in all conditions
The 2017 Mazda CX-9 boasts a standard turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 250 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque (227 hp on regular gasoline and 250 hp on premium). The horsepower numbers may not stand out on paper, but the 310 lb-ft of torque comes in early, so the CX-9 leaps to life from a stop and easily passes other vehicles. This midsize SUV also features a well-composed chassis with great stability for tackling curves but retains ample softness to keep you and your passengers comfy inside. You’ll find it’s a great balance and delivers in virtually any driving condition.
