2022 Ram 1500 increases appeal with new infotainment system and more
Consistently a top choice for a light-duty pickup truck, the Ram 1500 is even more appealing for 2022 with some equipment refinements. The expansive lineup ranges from the basic hardworking Tradesman trim to a mighty, very expensive TRX off-road pickup. The TRX features a supercharged 6.2-liter engine producing 702 hp, a tougher frame, and off-road enhancements including special wheels and tires, a lifted suspension with Bilstein adaptive dampers, and a host of other improvements to provide strong performance whatever the terrain. Sensational as that top-tier model is, with that sticker price, it's not for every Ram 1500 buyer. But the range provides plenty of options for those with more modest budgets.
Four cargo bed lengths are offered alongside three cab types powered by a choice of four engines. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but there's the option for four-wheel drive. The standard transmission is an eight-speed automatic. Other than the TRX, the engines are a 305-hp 3.6-liter V6, a 395-hp 5.7-liter V8, and a 260-hp 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel. The diesel engine is the fuel-sipping star, though all of the engines deliver good EPA-estimated fuel economy when compared with other light-duty pickup trucks. The Ram 1500 is consistently rated as the smoothest-riding truck among rivals, too, due to its use of coil springs at the rear. 2022 brings new trim packages, including a Limited 10th Anniversary model. And the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment technology comes as standard or optional equipment on all trims except for the Tradesman. A solid favorite, the 2022 Ram 1500 is well worth seeking out if you need a capable, comfortable-driving pickup.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Ram 1500
1. Stay connected
The 2022 Ram 1500 might be a sturdy workhorse but that doesn't mean it lacks connectivity features. Look to the Sport trim and above for the Uconnect® 5 multimedia center delivered through a 12-inch touchscreen. This is a real focal point in the Ram 1500 and features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity alongside available apps such as navigation with connected services and Sirius XM radio.
The whole system is voice-activated, meaning you can keep your eyes on the road ahead.2. Built for work and play
With robust suspension to tackle the worksite and a maximum estimated payload of 2300 lbs, this is a truck that works hard and plays hard. Whether you choose the base Tradesman trim for utilitarian simplicity during your working week or the luxurious Limited trim for weekend trips to the city, you won't be disappointed. If an off-road adventure is more your style, the TRX trim is the true go-anywhere option with luxury touches inside and out.
3. Towing technology
The available HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque offers a maximum estimated towing capacity of 12,750 lbs (when properly equipped).
The range of engine options means it's easy to find the power and towing capacity that suits you. Even the base V6 engine can tow an estimated 7,710 lbs when properly equipped. On HEMI V8 models, look for the Max Trailering package to get helpful tech such as a self-calibrating reverse steering control.4. Powerful engine options
The base 3.6L Pentastar® V6 has a respectable 305 horsepower, but if that's not enough, you have several options to help you find the 2022 Ram 1500 that suits you. If you want to go longer between fill-ups, the available 480-horsepower diesel engine gets an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined.
If maximum power and driving enjoyment is the priority, you'll love the 702-horsepower supercharged V8 that's available on the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX—it'll sprint from zero to 60 in just 4.5 seconds (according to the manufacturer, when new).5. Great attention to detail
With so much versatility in one truck, it's easy to find a 2022 Ram 1500 that fits your busy lifestyle. You'll find some incredible attention to detail within the various trim levels and available options. The available power-release tailgate opens with the touch of a button, making loading easier than ever. And the bed step makes accessing the back of the truck a breeze, whether you use it for work or for truck camping sessions with the kids. If you need more, the available Rambox® cargo system is another detail that you should keep an eye out for. It offers secure, illuminated storage, a 115-volt power outlet, and a drainable cargo area you can use as a cooler.
