The 2024 Ram 1500 is a versatile, capable, and stylish full-size pickup truck
The Ram 1500 is a full-size half-ton pickup truck and is not only the best-selling model in the entire Stellantis portfolio (that includes Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge) but also one of America's most popular vehicles. Available as a quad cab or crew cab, the Ram 1500 was last fully redesigned in 2019. For the 2024 model year, Ram offered the Final Edition of the Ram 1500 TRX, boasting a 702-horsepower supercharged V8 engine and extreme off-road capability.
In addition to the final TRX, the 2024 Ram 1500 is offered in seven trim levels, ranging from the Tradesman basic work truck to the fully loaded, luxurious Ram 1500 Limited. The Ram 1500 delivers impressive capability, boasting a 12,750-pound maximum towing capacity and the ability to haul up to 2,300 pounds. Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories. Impressive as that is, it’s still short of the top-selling Ford F-150 or the Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

What We Like
Towing and storage: It may not claim the highest towing numbers in its class, but the Ram 1500 is quite capable of hauling upward of 12,000 pounds. Ram stands out with the available RamBox—a unique lockable storage space integrated into the sides of the truck bed. Also distinct to the Ram 1500 is the two-way tailgate that can open downward or split like two doors.
Interior: The Ram 1500's cabin is spacious and comfortable, offering plenty of headroom and legroom for both front and rear seat passengers. Doors open wide and it's easy to get in and out, especially with the well-placed grab handles. The controls are placed within easy reach of the driver, and generally, materials are of high quality.
Technology: Two different display screens are offered, and while the 8.4-inch is good, the 12-inch vertical display is quite impressive, with clear graphics and intuitive controls. Multiple USB ports can be found throughout the cabin, and the Uconnect® infotainment system features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. The Uconnect system is one of the best on the market, allowing the driver to customize how and which information is shown on the display.
What Needs Improvement
Fuel economy: As a full-size pickup truck with powerful available engines, fuel economy expectations were not high. According to the EPA, the Ram 1500 4WD with the 5.7-liter V8 is rated at 17 mpg combined, while the extreme Ram TRX is expected to return just 12 mpg combined. That said, the diesel-powered Ram 1500 4WD is rated at an impressive 24 mpg combined.
