Transmission: Automatic Color:Black Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (5 reviews) I had a list of features I was looking for. This is the newest and lowest mileage car with the most technology I've ever had. First time getting a loan and making payments so it had to fit my short term and long term requirements. I had a Honda CRV for 12.5 years as an example. I wanted to be able to sit up and have good visibility through the windows, good gas mileage, be able to fit a bike and cargo in the back with a door that lifts up, not sideways, comfortable seating for me, good overall condition, good handling (especially in the rain), etc. The Scion has those features and it is a manual drive which is fine for me. I can only find one thing I would change is that the exterior frame is low which I am concerned about being dented.

I loved the body style but everyone talked about how slow the car was. Maybe I got a good one but this car is everything but slow. With that said it isn't the fastest car around but dollar for dollar this car will stand up to the best. This car hangs with my wife's VW GTI. That's right a car that has 100 more HP than the FR-S but these things are so dang light. I do have to say i got a re-tune the week after I got the car. That got rid to the dreaded power curve dip at 3500rpm. Running on high-grade gas the thing is a blast to drive. handeling is the best if been in. Even compared to BMW and Corvette. It's just more fun to drive.

Transmission: Manual 6 Speed Color:Gray Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.666666666666667 reviews) 1. Scion uses a proprietary oil filter that requires a special tool. Pretty much means you have to take the car to the dealership for every service. 2. Synthetic oil changes are more expensive. 3. The tiny tires on the iQ are ridiculously expensive and even the dealership has to order them overnight! 4. Feels like an economy car. Dashboard features are jumbled together, only one cupholder in the front, stereo not as nice as the xD, interior light is useless, "glove box" is a cheap plastic tray under the passenger seat. 5. Smaller engine feels...well, small. Car struggles to accelerate, especially on freeway ramps. All of this aside, I do love my little car. It's adorable and OH MY GOD I can park it ANYWHERE. I love that.

Popular Models

FR-S (2004 to 2016): Find loads of fun driving this two-seater, rear-wheel drive sports car. Powered by a 2.0L engine and paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, it is built for working the corners in style. Standard interior features include sport bucket seats, an eight-speaker sound system, air conditioning, and access to the storage area when you fold forward the passenger seat.

XD (2009 to 2014): Built off the boxier looks of the xB, this compact urban machine provides seating for five with surprising headroom and reclining/fold-flat rear seats when you need extra room for moving your gear. Amenities include power side windows, a color-keyed spoiler, and Bluetooth® technology in some later model years. Steering wheel-mounted controls help to keep you focused on the road ahead.

IA (2016): This compact four-door is designed to zip into small parking spaces with ease while offering your family and friends the convenience of stepping into the back seat. Touchscreen technology is found in every vehicle along with text delivery and voice reply. The 16-inch alloy wheels provide polish to its flirty and fun exterior.

IM (2016): This hatchback offered a few extra perks including the rear liftgate that opens onto an expansive cargo area with the rear-seats folded flat. A backup camera provides excellent vision while pulling out of your spot and the color touchscreen offers access to the dual-zone climate control. Its spiral-spoke 17-inch wheels gives added personality to this model.

IQ (2011 to 2015): Rediscover the joy of driving in the city in this small yet intelligent ride. Designed to zip down narrow streets and steal parking from SUVs, this car offers seating for four. Fold down the back seats when you are doing your weekly shopping. It offers an ECO driving mode and comes with leather trim, keyless entry, and power windows.

tC (2004 to 2016): The athletic two-door is offered with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission with paddle shifters. It takes its 2.5L four-cylinder engine and delivers up 179 horsepower. A double wishbone suspension gives it a spirited ride while inside you can pop up the moonroof and wrap your hands around the leather-trimmed steering wheel. The rear liftback provides plenty of room for backpacks and shopping bags.

xB (2003 to 2015): Designed to carry people and all their gear, this compact option to an SUV provides the headroom and performance you need. Air conditioning, keyless entry, a USB port, sport bucket seats and a six-speaker audio system round out the interior amenities.

So much more than what I expected

When I bought this car I thought I was making a sacrifice.

Pros

  • Styling: This thing is SMALL. I really like the overall style. When I decided to buy the car it was based on style alone. I was surprised at the overall performance. Bonus!
  • Seat Comfort: While this car is very small (really a two seater) the front seats are extremely comfortable. They are ridged enough for playing on a track day yet comfortable enough for long trips.
  • Ride and Handling: The car handles like its on rails. While this isn't the fastest car i've owned it is the most fun to drive. Braking is amazing. I would rate the driving experience up there with BMW & Corvette. Its not as fast as those cars but driving it is just so much FUN.

Cons

  • Technology and Entertainment: I go the upgraded sound system. Save your money. The sound system stinks and you would do better with an aftermarket with better speakers.

- John Walley, 2014 Scion FR-S

It's the newest and lowest mileage car I've had.

I had a list of features I was looking for.

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: My Scion is a manual and has handled well even in heavy rain. Does well in curves and pick up onto highways.
  • Interior Space: I'm considered tall and the layout works well for me, as well sitting in an upright position, not low, for good visibility.
  • Cargo Space: I can fit my bike laying down in the back so I don't have to have an external bike carrier at this time!

- Gayle H, 2012 Scion xB

Adorable and reliable but definitely not a luxury car

Pros

  • Value: Great price for the quality of the car.
  • Fuel Economy: Good but not that much better than my Scion xD.
  • Visibility: I like driving a cute car. And this one is bright orange, so I'm not worried about earth-killing SUVs plowing over me.

Cons

  • Ride and Handling: The smaller engine definitely feels strained when accelerating.
  • Interior Space: I like that it's cozy, but it's not for everyone.
  • Cost to Maintain: Oil changes and tires cost WAY more than a typical car. At least it doesn't require premium fuel like the SMART.
