About Mini Vehicles
Vehicle Summary
While not officially established as a company until 1969, the Mini brand's history dates back to the late 1950s, when the British Motor Corporation (BMC) committed to designing and building a simple, inexpensive vehicle for getting around town. To the BMC's surprise, the unique design of the Mini Cooper drew the attention of many celebrities, including Peter Sellers, George Harrison, and even Paul McCartney. From there, it didn't take long for Mini to become a globally recognized brand.
Today, Mini continues to produce its popular two-door hardtop, as well as four-door and convertible versions. The 2017 Mini two-door hardtop, for instance, is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder engine at 134 hp and comes with such standard features as automatic dual-zone climate control, smartphone integration, simulated leather upholstery, and HD radio, making it a popular Mini model. The same features and powertrain are also standard on the four-door hatchback Mini for sale.
The 2018 Mini Countryman is another popular used Mini; it is larger than the original Mini hatchback, featuring a wagon-style design evocative of a small crossover SUV. Its base Cooper trim is powered by the same turbocharged 1.5L engine at 134 hp as the Mini for sale in two- and four-door models, with all-wheel drive is optional. Base equipment on the 2018 Countryman is generous and includes run-flat performance tires, a panoramic sunroof, automatic dual-zone climate control, and ambient cabin lighting.
From the classic two-door Mini Cooper to the more spacious Countryman and Clubman models, Mini has made quite a name for itself over the years. With cars that are as eye-catching as they are fun-to-drive, a used Mini could be a great choice for your next vehicle purchase.

FAQ
Q: Who owns the Mini car brand?
A: Although Mini is historically a British brand, it has been owned by German automaker BMW since 2000.
Q: What are the different types of Mini?
A: There are a number of Mini cars available, including hardtop two- and four-door models, convertibles, and the larger Countryman and Clubman wagons. The high-performance John Cooper Works (JCW) is another popular Mini for sale. The JCW Mini has even more power behind the wheel, and is named after the original designer of the iconic Mini Cooper.
Q: Do Mini Coopers have BMW engines?
A: Yes; while Mini models produced before Mini's acquisition by BMW in 2000 were equipped with British O-Series engines, newer models are outfitted with BMW-sourced engines.
Q: Do they still make Mini Coopers?
A: Yes, although the Mini Cooper is no longer a standalone model like it originally was. The last "classic" Mini Cooper model rolled off the assembly line in 2000. Since then, Mini has continued to produce "Cooper" trims on each of its vehicle models, and the used Mini remains a popular vehicle.

Reviews for Mini
A must own, but VERY expensive out of warranty
Yes but only if you can buy extended warranty. With the seats down, I've loaded a large Costco shopping cart woth of itmes! Great manual transmission. Comfortable seats and great heat/air conditioing. Top goes up/down quickly and keeps out elements very well. Pros BMW quality at a fraction of the price Good gas mileage More fun than one should legally have with cloths on Handling, breaking and mechanical feel is top notch Cons BMW cost for all repairs: $180 oil change, $800 break job, etc Must use Premium gas, so this off-sets gas savings Base sound system is the worst sounding of any car i've owned; get harmon kardon system as aftermarket is hard to install and expensive Rear visibility poor Fair resale value
Pros
- Styling: Quirky, fun and timeless styling
- Ride and Handling: More sport than comfort; go cart fun
- Fuel Economy: 32 mpg base, 27 mpg S, 24mpg JCW
Cons
- Cabin Noise: The convertible is verly noisy and buzzy. However, you really enjoy the turbo woosh and sounds
- Cost to Maintain: Its a BMW(break my wallet) if out of warranty: $800 break job and $8500 transmission swap
- Visibility: Top down = can't see bottom 40%. Top up cant see rear side
MINI - The Way to GO!
All around great little car. People think it might be small and therefore not roomy enough. But I am north of 300 lbs. and I have more room in it than I had in my 3 series that I traded in for this car. I drive 125 miles a day for my commute, and I love driving my MINI. People laugh when they see this great big old guy get out of such a tiny car, but I don't care. I have owned a gazillion cars, Mercedes (2), BMW (2), Hummer H3 (1), Lexus (1), and a whole mess of Dodge, Chevy, and Ford products over the years. This car sticks out as a great buy! General all around value, you can't beat it.
Pros
- Fuel Economy: This is why I bought it and it is doing very well. 38-40 MPG avg. Very happy with it.
- Value: Looked at other economy cars and this one performs the best by far. MINI holds its value at resale time too!
- Ride and Handling: Hugs the road beautifully! Fun too - like driving a little go-kart, but with juice to it! :-)
Cons
- Cabin Noise: At higher speeds (above 60) if you don't use the stereo like me, wind noise gets a little loud. Very bareable though.
Unique, high performance and likely collectable
If your objective is to find a car with incredible handling characteristics and a sporty make sure this is it. It also serves as quite a status symbol as it is so unique. Not for an introverted person since it draws a lot of attention. One word of caution however, this car requires constant attention, but who's to say you need to be paying attention all the time at it is very responsive. The ride is also solid as you can imagine so do not expect a lexus.
Pros
- Styling: Different than anything on the road
- Dashboard: Unique in a sea of vanilla
