2017 Chevrolet Corvette is a performance icon

The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette comes standard with a 6.2-liter V8 engine providing 455 horsepower to a pair of 19-inch wheels in this all-American sports car. The Grand Sport model introduced for the 2017 model year melds the handling of the more expensive and more powerful Z06 with the manageable, yet desirable, base V8 engine.

The Corvette's power isn't just easy on the ears, it's easy to maintain on track thanks to comfortable and sensible steering. That performance, thankfully, does not come with a harsh ride. Chevrolet developed a sports car that's just as pleasant a daily driver as it is a track car, particularly when upgraded to Grand Sport.

It's also an affordable ride when compared to its competition. The wide-ranging Corvette lineup means there's likely one that fits your wants and wallet. The Corvette doesn't disappoint whether it's lunging through corners or cruising down highways, and it compares well against more expensive rivals like the Porsche 911 and BMW Z4 in terms of performance and drivability.

All Chevrolet Corvette years

What is new for the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette?

  • Trim Added: Sport Edition for enhanced performance features.
  • Trim Discontinued: Base Model no longer available.
  • Standard Equipment on all trims: Now includes advanced safety features such as automatic emergency braking.
  • New Equipment: Infotainment system upgraded to include a larger touchscreen and wireless connectivity.

What We Like

Driving: The Corvette is a throwback for the modern age. It's a joy to drive a car with a big V8 under the hood — all while enjoying modern technology, excellent handling and strong braking.

Comfort: The Magnetic Ride Control system makes for a comfortable ride and gives you the option to select softer ride-quality settings. The cabin is also quiet enough for you to have a conversation without shouting, which isn't always a given in a sports car.

Utility: 15 cubic feet of cargo capacity isn't going to break any world records, but it is sizable for a luxury sports coupe. The convertible's trunk can hold up to 10 cubic feet whether the top is up or down.

What Needs Improvement

Technology: The Corvette doesn’t offer any sort of advanced driver assist system, such as automatic emergency braking or active cruise control. Additionally, the center screen can be a little finicky and doesn't work as well as some competitors. Thankfully, the addition of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto mitigate this.
